Top tips for show newcomers

Entering the Prestatyn Flower Show? Here are some key tips to help you get started.

Talk to the people who are already competing in your local show. "They are always pleased to pass on tips and advice".
Grow the easier varieties of fruit, veg or flowers. "If you are unsure ask at your local Garden Centre which are the most popular makes to grow."
Read the show schedule carefully. "You'd be amazed at the number of entries that are disqualified because they haven't read the schedule properly."
Take your time when you're displaying your entry. "Don't leave it to the last minute - give yourself plenty of time to stage it properly."
Pick the winners. "Once you've gained confidence, grow the right varieties. Ask fellow exhibitors, look at the labels at shows, and check which varieties are winning the top prizes."
And one last thing... "When you've finished staging your exhibit, take a deep breath, step away for a few minutes, then go back and check what you've done again. Those last details can sometimes make all the difference

We're really looking forward to meeting you at the Prestatyn Flower Show! Don't forget that as well as entry forms for the Flower Show (29th and 30th July), you can now also download an entry form for the static display of Classic Cars and Motorcycles (July 30th only) directly from our website, in the Classes, Trophies and Competitions section!

Perpetual awards will be presented for the following classes:

Car of the Show - The Peter Roberts Cup
Best judged motor vehicle pre-war to 1939
Best judged motor vehicle post-war 1945 to 1960
Best judged classic motor vehicle 1961 to 1975
Best judged motor bike
Best judged commercial vehicle

Don't forget that there is no charge for participating in this event. Complimentary entry into the Flower Show for two for each car entered in the show!

Welcome to the new official website of Prestatyn Flower Show!

Exhibits include flowers, vegetables, herbs, floral art, domestic, crafts, woodwork, classic cars, photography and art, with the paintings on show in the nearby library. We think you will agree there is something for everybody to try his or her hand at, or why not just come along and admire the cleverness and hard work of others! Together with cream teas on the lawn, plant stalls, jazz band, silver band, children’s entertainment and hopefully the sun shining on us, it will be a glorious two days!

The Flower Show is held annually in the Vicarage Gardens, High Street, Prestatyn, Denbighshire, North Wales. This year for 2011, the 17th annual Flower Show will be held on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July!
